Job Overview:

Bechtel CPA is currently seeking Tax Season Interns, with an interest in Public Accounting to assist with individual and business tax return preparation from December through April with a minimum commitment of 20 hours/week (including Saturdays, if needed).

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with tax planning and research
  • Preparing federal, state & local tax returns
  • Understanding tax regulations and accounting pronouncements

 

Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or related field 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical, teamwork and organizational skills
  • Integrity, dependability, a positive attitude and a strong work ethic
  • PC proficiency, including spreadsheet, word processing and presentation software applications
  • The desire to be challenged & grow professionally

Qualifications
  • Be enrolled as a student during the 2022/2023 school year in Accounting, Finance, or related Business Administration program
  • 0-2 years of accounting, finance or related business administration experience
  • Demonstrate high level of confidentiality and professionalism
  • Exhibit analytical, problem-solving, organizational, time management, interpersonal communication skills, and solid Microsoft Suite skills required
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service, demonstrate commitment to continuous learning, display appropriate ethical knowledge and commitment, and exhibit a sense of urgency and commitment to quality and the timely completion of duties
  • The ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment

Responsibilities
  • Career Training: You will develop professionally by working with department leaders and their talented staff on projects and departmental objectives

  • Networking Events: Participate in activities that provide you with the opportunity to network and socialize, while building relationships that will be instrumental to your overall success
  • Gain understanding and participate in the daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly functionality of accounts receivable
  • Assist with compiling and maintaining of required accounting paperwork
  • Such paperwork includes, but not limited to reconciliations to the accounting system and data completeness checks
  • Work with department managers to resolve invoicing disputes and maintain customer records
  • Generate and analyze various internal and external aging reports
  • Assist in month-end close procedures
  • Research and correct account discrepancies
  • Prepare journal entries
  • Assist with audits, both external and internal as needed
  • Participate in Ad-hoc projects as needed

Tax Interns will be responsible for organizing and coordinating clients’ data for the accurate, timely completion of individual and business tax returns.
